Meet Our Team
Dentist
Dr. Jason A. Coats
Dr. Coats is a native of Starkville, MS, and graduated from Delta State University in 2010 with a BS in biology. Dr. Coats attended dental school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, graduating in 2015. After obtaining his dental degree, Dr. Coats enhanced his education and scope of practice by completing a General Practice Residency program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He returned to Starkville in 2016 and entered private practice. Dr. Coats is a member of the American Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He takes great pride in providing the absolute highest quality dental care to his patients, and has a special interest in implant and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Coats is supported by an outstanding staff who are equally committed to providing outstanding patient care to all patients of the practice. They are active in a variety of continuing education courses to broaden and sharpen their knowledge and skills.
Dental Hygienist
Laura Chancellor
Laura is a native of Macon, MS where she currently resides with her husband, Dale and her son, Colt. She is a 2013 graduate of Meridian Community College where she obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene. Laura practiced as a hygienist for seven years prior to joining Smiles. She enjoys working in her home and garden as well as spending time with family.
Dental Assistant
Tasha Coggins
Tasha is a native of Hiram, GA but currently resides in West Point with her husband Holden and her daughter, Madison. Tasha has worked as a Dental Assistant for 4 years prior to joining Dr. Coats in September of 2019. In her free time, Tasha enjoys singing at church, community theater and spending time with family and friends.

Jacky Buchahah
Jacky Buchahah is a native of Shuqalak, MS and currently resides in Crawford, MS with her family. In her free time, Jacky enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons enjoying the outdoors.
Dental Hygienist
Dakota Dempsey
Dakota is a native of Louisville, MS where she currently resides. She is a 2020 graduate of Northeast Mississippi Community College where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing with her two dogs, and spending time with her family.
Office Manager
Mary Coats
Mary is a native of Starkville, MS where she resides with her husband Jason and two children, Finley and Shaw. Mary is a 2009 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Mary works as a Physical Therapist at The Claiborne Assisted Living Facility in Starkville. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Office Coordinator
Missie Miller
Missie Miller is a native of Louisville, MS and currently resides in Louisville with her husband and children. Missie has over 20 years of experience in the dental field. In her free time, Missie enjoys reading and working in her garden.
